The Thousand Trails South Jetty Camp Ground in Florence, OR gives you the feeling of true camping! It’s heavily treed and the camp sites vary from semi-private to very private because of the wonderful trees.

Thousand Trails camp grounds offer reservations, but not site selection at the time of reservation. Basically you show up and then drive around the camp ground hoping to find a campsite that will accommodate you.

I have a 36ft “A” Class and I tow my jeep. Maneuvering through the camp ground with the jeep was not worth the effort, so I parked my jeep in front of the pool and drove through with the RV to find a spot.

I was surprised at how many spots were “reserved” with signs considering it’s a first come first serve camp ground. I actually made the unfortunate mistake of getting backed into a spot, with a lot of maneuvering only to see the sign on the power pole that the space was reserved after the fact! Lesson learned!

I visited Thousand Trails South Jetty Camp Ground the last week of June in 2023. It was pretty full, and finding a spot that would fit my rig took a few laps around the camp ground. I finally chose a site that was long, but narrow. Once the RV was in the site, the slides pushed into the brush on both sides when out,  and there was no room to walk around the outside of the rig. I had 50amp power, but no sewer. The picnic table and fire ring were also unusable as they were so close to the RV (I had to schoosh the table over a bit to not hit it)

The bath houses were clean and in good repair and we had no issue using them, which was a relief with 2 kids and  no sewer hook up. There was a club house, although we did not go inside. The pool was large, clean and in good repair and my grandchildren spent a great deal of time in it! I did not see a camp store, but I have to admit I didn't explore the entire campground.

I I
The camp ground is close to the Hobbit Trail and the Sea Lion Caves and we took a day to go explore these fun little adventures!

This was my first encounter with the Thousand Trails Campgrounds and I was a bit disappointed, only because I had been staying in RV Resorts up until then. After reflection and visiting other campgrounds, I would definitely recommend this camp ground. My space, though tight, was private and surrounded by nature and it was very relaxing.

I'm giving this camp ground 3 stars. I took 1 away for lack of Full Hook Up Sites and 1 away for how tight the spots were in general.
