$60 per night / Full Hook Up / 50amp

This camp ground was a bit underwhelming. It looks as if they are in the process of making improvements, but I can only speak for when I visited in Late June of 2023. It looked like they were adding more campsites in the back half of the property, but it would have been more encouraging to see them improving the sites they already had. However they do offer full hook up 50amp sites. Unfortunately the adding of more sites meant the cutting down of beautiful Redwoods and leaving huge piles of debris.

Although there were wooded areas, the big rigs were put into “parking space” type sites that lacked privacy, character or peace and quiet. The row of campsites I was in were VERY close together with some sites being separated by landscape pencil trees. (hedge) My slides came out OVER the picnic table and there were no fire rings available. The side that had no hedge had me butted up against my neighbor. I think, for smaller rigs, the wooded area looked nice.

The camp store was nicely stocked and had some souvenir type items available as well. However, the staff seemed to lack knowledge of the general area.

The play ground had the ground material being replaced while we were there but it looked in good repair other than that. The k9 camp area was overgrown and the gate was broken and sagging so it could not be closed.

Laundry room was dirty, but had several machines all in good repair. The bathroom was clean and in good repair. When I was there they were having a septic issue. It did not effect our stay, but you needed to walk around the open septic caps and workers to get to the bathroom or laundry facility.

The best part of the camp ground was exploring the Crescent City area. We went to Trees of Mystery and Ocean World Aquarium. The Ocean World Aquarium looked like a side attraction from the road, but was a true delight! It included a very educational tour and a great Sea Lion Show!

While there the transfer case in my jeep gave me some trouble and I was rescued by a local mobile mechanic, Greg Watson, that deserves more than 5 stars! In retrospect my review may be tainted by the lack of help or direction I received from the camp staff. When I told them that my jeep was unable to be towed, they offered no information on mechanics, even though I asked. I asked if I could pay to leave the jeep at the campground in the parking area and pick it up on my way back and was told no. I finally found a mechanic on my own, and when I told the SAME CAMP WORKER that I had resolved the problem they said they could have recommended a mechanic. (what?) The silver lining is that I had to stay another day, so they had to move me to an “overflow” site which was 100% better than the primary site I was in!  Maybe the staff was just preoccupied with the septic issue, I'll give them a pass.
